Federal Research Center Pushchino Scientific Center for Biological Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences (PSCBR RAS) is a unique scientific institution of global importance. It makes up about a quarter of the entire potential of Russian biological research in the field of molecular and cell biology, biotechnology, biochemistry of microorganisms, genetic technologies, gene and cellular engineering, photobiology, biophysics, soil science and ecology.
The PSCBR employs more than 1,300 people, of whom about 600 are research workers: 140 have a doctorate degree (D.Sci.) and more than 300 are candidates of sciences (Ph.D.), 2 members of RAS (academicians) and 6 corresponding members of RAS. The scientists carry out world-class fundamental and applied research at 70 scientific laboratories, 15 scientific auxiliary and 11 production units.
PSCBR contributes much to the education of young scientists. Students, Masters of Science, postgraduates and young scientists from all over the country undergo training at the PSCBR institutes. A well-known is the Annual International School-Conference of Young Scientists "Biology – the Science of the XXI Century" organized to show the research results of graduate students and young scientists.
